What you´ll do
SAP's internal CI/CD platform, offering innovative tools and services to streamline the development journey for SAP's cloud developers. In our commitment to agility, we've embraced SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) as our guiding Agile framework, opening an exciting opportunity for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join our team. As our RTE, you'll play a pivotal role in guiding our Agile Release Train (ART) to success. You'll navigate the complexities of software delivery within large, cross-functional teams, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Your mission will be to coach and facilitate the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of value, all while fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

  • Streamline the ART's value delivery by applying Agile and Lean Management principles to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Boost transparency across the ART by leveraging objective metrics for clear insight into effectivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure readiness and effectively conduct PI Planning sessions, promoting thorough backlog preparation.
  • Orchestrate key ceremonies such as PI Planning, PO Sync, and Coach Sync, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Serve as a key connector for the ART within various organizational groups, enhancing the Business Agility of our enterprise.
  • Proactively tackle impediments, oversee risk management and dependencies, and lead the charge for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Business Owners and stakeholders, offering insights on our lean-agile practices and decision-making framework.
  • Foster a culture of learning and technical excellence through the promotion of communities of practice and high-quality engineering standards.

What you bring

  • Demonstrated expertise in employing agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Design Thinking, Lean), with a bonus for experience in agile software delivery.
  • The ability to remain focused and adaptable, skillfully prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. This includes excellent skills in managing and resolving conflicts.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving, grounded in a systemic thinking mindset.
  • A committed team player who thrives in multicultural settings and is adept at collaborating with teams spread across various locations.
  • An academic degree in technical, business, scientific or psychological studies.
  • Certification either as a SPC (SAFe Practice Consultant) or RTE (SAFe Release Train Engineer) is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication skills, especially in active listening and empathetic interaction, to effectively connect with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in English, with business-level fluency, enabling clear and effective communication.
